Working Principle – A brief Overview
- System 1 (Pink) ~ Responsible for tracking main fish tank parameters using sensors as well as activating the water change cycle when the environment is too ‘dirty’, draining the dirty water out and pumping water into the main water tank
- System 2 (Blue) ~ Responsible for treating tap-water for fishes to thrive in through the use of sensors and a chemical dispenser.
Communication
LCD
LCD used to display pH and TDS
Our Arduino will provide real-time feedback on the pH values and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) values of both the Main Fish Tank and the Clean Water Tank. The idea is to give users an accurate, quick and easy-to-comprehend feedback on the real-time parameters of their fish tank. This solves many issues pertaining to current products aimed at providing such feedbacks such as a universal indicator used to measure a tank’s pH level. Such indicators can be quite difficult to use as it requires the user to compare with a given color reading and does not provide a quantifiable result.
IOt (Thingspeak)
THINGSPEAK interface
Through Wifi connections, our arduino is able to store and plot data over an extended period of time. This allows the user to better able track the conditions of their fish tank and make more decisive decisions on how to better take care of the tank ecosystem. The THINGSPEAK interface can also be accessed at any place and any time.
Water Change cycle
Key Components
- Sensors
- Gravity pH Analog Sensor: Used to detect the pH levels of the main tank as well as the clean water tank
- Gravity TDS Sensor: Used to detect the amount of dissolved solids in the main tank as well as the clean water tank
- Float Sensor: Used to detect the changes in water level in the main tank as well as the clean water tank
- Arduino Uno Wifi Rev 2: The brains of the product, in charge of relaying information and activating the water change cycle.
- Submersible water pump: Used to transfer water to and fro tanks.
