Process: Version 1 had the basics – a hole for the shaft of the motor to fit and a hole large enough for the largest pill ( 00 capsules) the elderly may take. In Version 2, the whole cup was made bigger, including the holes. This was because we found out the 00 capsules could not fit in the pill hole as it was just nice. As such, everything had to be made bigger. We also added a ridge that turned out too thin and fell off. In Version 3, we added a thicker ridge but it was placed too low. In Version 4, the cup was made taller to accomodate 3 x 30 pills (the approximated maximum regiment the elderly may take). The ridge was also placed higher up the cup. In Version 5, the ridge was made sturdier. However, we realised the ridge was not sufficient as the cup was still shaky when placed into the platform. Hence, in Version 6, we opted for “pot handles” that could lock into the platform’s handles. In Version 7, we made the handles curved to make it easier for the cup to lock into the platform’s handles.

Version 3.3
Process: In Version 1.1, we made 4 plain disks with different pill shapes and a 2mm hole in the middle that is shaped like the stepper motor’s shaft. However, we realised the disk was very unstable due to the shallow depth of the hole. In Version 1.2, we turned the hole into an external protrusion of 2mm. We also tried to add holes for tweezers to grip onto the disk for easy removal. We found out it was not effective. In Version 2, we removed the holes for the tweezers and made the protrusion longer to 6mm. In Version 3.1, we opted for a rounded handle in the middle of the disk. We also changed the hole to a cross, which we believe will be more stable with the shaft adaptor. However, amongst all the changes we made to the disk, we forgot to include the hole for the pill :”)
In Version 3.2, we added the pill hole back. In Version 3.3, we made the hole deeper with a smaller offset so the shaft fits more snugly.
Versions of the base and platform for the load guage:
Process: We printed a stand and a platform. We hoped that it would stabilise the load guage as the values kept jumping with the printed parts. However the stand and platform did not fit our load guage as the measurements were off.
Version of the extension shaft for the stepper motor:
Process: We also created an adpator for the shaft to extend its length. It has a hole fit for the shaft that changes into a cross that can fit into the hole in the disk.

Locking mechanism for Version 4
From Version 1 (Green) to 2 (Black), we made the hole bigger to fit the bigger cup and also printed the layer thicker for stability. In Version 3, we made the hole bigger so that the cup rests lower in the platform. In Version 4, we added handles at the side for the locking mechanism.
