Hello everyone and welcome to the blog webpage of Group 2: Megatron!

Our group consists of our leader Meghan from Environmental Sciences, Flora from Materials Science, Zhanlin from Math, Nicholas from Mechanical Engineering and Chris from Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Our group is working on a cone-laying robot that helps to dispense cones in a straight line in an automated fashion. This idea is inspired by Nicholas, who is an avid skater and a member of the NTU Skate Club himself.

Skaters usually practise their skating with slalom cones aligned in straight lines. However, during the skating, cones might be displaced due to skaters bumping and knocking them out of their positions and the task of manually picking them up one-by-one and arranging them after every round of skating is a very time-consuming task. Furthermore, there might be inconsistencies in the placement of the positions of the slalom cones when done manually. Hence, we want to design our project to mitigate these aforementioned issues of time and inconsistency. Therefore, we have decided that our project will be a cone laying robot that will automatically dispense slalom cones in a straight line. This robot will also accurately place the slalom cones in equivalent distance of the intervals between the cones. This robot will be able to resolve the issue of time consumption and ensure consistency with the placement of the cone and therefore, this project is perfect for skaters or those interested in practising skating.
