PROJECT OVERVIEW

DESCRIPTION

Consider a typical heavy-duty trolley, which looks something like this…

Heavy Duty Folding Industrial Platform Trolley - Foldable Trolley on Wheels for Moving, Loading, Delivery and Removal of Heavy Items With Anti Puncture Tyres and 330 LB Load Capacity - 5 Year

The main issue with these trolleys is their standard design, featuring two fixed rear wheels that restrict movement, making it difficult to maneuvere in tight and narrow spaces. Additionally, the heavy loads they carry make moving these trolleys strenuous, especially for loads over 100 kg.

Imagine construction sites where these trolleys are used to transport heavy materials, such as bags of concrete, through tight spaces amidst the hustle and bustle of building activities. This can be exhausting and hard work. But what if all these back-breaking problems could be solved?

That is why our team has decided to design a remote-controlled heavy-duty trolley.

While it may resemble a standard heavy-duty trolley, our design features a 4-wheel drive, with each wheel equipped with its own motor and rotation. This allows for multi-directional movement with different modes, such as stationary turning and ‘crab-driving.’ As a result, the trolley can easily navigate tight spaces. Furthermore, the remote-control aspect enables the user to control it without the need to physically push the trolley.

VISION

The goal of this project is to improve the functionality of heavy-duty trolleys by incorporating better mobility and remote control capabilities. By equipping each wheel with its own motor and enabling multi-directional movement, our design aims to address the common issues of manoeuvrability in tight spaces and the physical strain associated with transporting heavy loads. Ultimately, we seek to enhance efficiency and reduce the physical demands on users, making it an ideal solution for construction sites and other environments requiring the transport of heavy materials.
