Testing materials

We tested the materials that we bought.

centrifugal fan:

Problems:

• our centrifugal fan was too small and weak, even at full power
• the opening of the fan was rectangular and slightly bigger than the opening of our rod, so some of the air escaped and was not directed into the pipe

Solution:

• we took another centrifugal fan from the lab, which had a rounded opening, which fit exactly into tube.
• the fan had more power and the air flow was much faster and stronger.

Aluminum tubes

Problems:

• the tube was too long and thick
• too heavy for our poles cause they need to be removable
• cannot drill holes into a tube so thick

Solution:

• we sourced for a much thinner and shorter aluminum pole, so that we can connect multiple of them to form the poles to hang the clothes
