Final Build
Week 1 (15 – 21 June): Project Pivot & Planning
- Pivoted from MFC to asthma-focused wearable after discussions on empathy and feasibility
- Defined key signals: breath sounds, SpO₂, chest movement
- Researched sensor types, data needs, clinical relevance
- Started blog, app mockups, and system architecture brainstorm
Week 2 (22 – 28 June): First Circuits & App Drafts
- Built breadboard circuits for stethoscope mic, stretch sensor, SpO₂ sensor
- Designed housing sketches (Dylan & Vanessa)
- Connected sensors to Arduino; tested signal quality
- Started Bluetooth app development (Amar)
Week 3 (29 June – 5 July): Prototyping + Bluetooth
- Finalized wiring for wrist + chest wearable
- Tested cough, wheeze, and breathing signal collection
- Debugged BLE UART transmission between sensors and app
- Created basic logistic regression model + synthetic dataset (Dakshita)
Week 4 (6 – 12 July): Sensor Housing & App Refinement
- 3D printed electronics housing for chest module
- Finalized stethoscope mic and strap stitching design
- Developed ACQ test in app; added asthma log UI
- Improved ML features: added heart rate variability, wheeze energy
Week 5 (13 – 19 July): Integration & Testing
- Integrated chest and wrist hardware into one system
- Tested wearable accuracy vs commercial SpO₂ devices
- Added real-time Bluetooth sync, alert threshold tuning
- Filtered out sensor noise using moving averages & buffers
Week 6 (20 – 26 July): Final Presentation & Polish
- Final hardware with wearable housing + toggle switch + LEDs
- Refined app UI + alert screens
- Finalised ML model (threshold = 0.11, F2 score optimised)
- Completed video, poster, website, and presentation
From a pantry conversation to a working prototype — AsthmaAlly came alive in just 6 weeks.
