Welcome to E2B2! E2B2 stands for Energy Efficient Balloon Bot for Volcano Surveillance. As the title suggests, our group aims to design a balloon-glider hybrid which allows for more refined and energy-efficient use of drones for volcano surveillance.

About the team
We are a 5-man team, compromising of Year 1 and 2 CN Yang Scholars from varying fields of science and engineering. Interestingly, despite how aero/mechanical based our group’s project is on, there are no EEE/Aero/Mech engineers in our group! Nevertheless, it is about the joy of learning and we are confident that this project will be an interesting and fruitful one.

Natalie
Bonjour, je m’appelle Natalie and I am a Year 1 student from the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, majoring in Chemistry. My current research interest lies in the applications of SERS platforms in toxin detection and anti-counterfeiting purposes. My hobby includes singing, watching shows and playing games. Even though this project may not be exactly relevant to my major, I hope to learn much from this from this interesting journey.
Darren
Hi everyone!! I’m Darren and I’m a year 2 student at the Asian School of Environment majoring in Environmental Earth Systems Science. I am particularly fascinated by the geoscience field as it tells stories behind the landscapes we see around us and uncovers the mysteries of the depths of the Earth beneath our feet. I also enjoy dancing because I believe humans can be just as dynamic as the Earth is!
I hopped onto this project as it was an interesting and realistic juncture between modern engineering and earth science – seemingly outrageous yet doable, meaningful and fun!
Yeehark
Hello, I’m Yeehark and I’m a year 1 student during Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. I am interested in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and would like to explore the field more. I enjoy playing and watching sports, especially squash and football. The World Cup has evidently taken a toll on me. This project will be interesting and has been fascinating so far. I would love to see what we can achieve in the time to come!
Yuhui
Hello! I am Yu Hui, currently in Year 1 majoring in Biological Sciences. My current research is on bacteria biofilms (of completely no relation to this project). However, I hope that through this Making and Tinkering Module, I will be able to expand my horizon, learning about things that that I would otherwise have never gotten the chance to. With no prior knowledge of drones and aerodynamics, extremely trivial knowledge on physics and a whole lot of naivety, it was a huge leap of faith for me to take on this project. So into the great unknowns we go, I am certain that we will gain much from this wonderful journey together!
Jia Yong
Hi everyone! I am Jia Yong and I am a year 1 student and like Darren, I major in Environmental Earth System Science! My current research interest lies in natural hazards assessment and risk analysis and I hope to explore the field deeper during the course of my university education! Some of my hobbies include reading, sports, running and listening to music. I am glad to be part of this exciting MnT venture and hope to learn as much as I can during this project!:) It’s all about the joy of learning!!!!!
