First Progress Meeting
May 28 – June 1
We changed our idea from trying to extract energy from water to making a juicer for a vending machine that is automated and more convenient to clean. We discuss the overall design of our juicer and thought of methods on how to build and automate the juicer.
This is what we came up with after the first discussion.
3 June – 8 June
Modification and finalization of the design of our juicer. We also sourced and ordered all the materials required.
Second Progress Meeting
10 June- 19 June
We spent the first week waiting for the parts to arrive. Before 19 June, only the parts for the weighing part of the juicer arrived so we decided to work on it first.
We made a small ‘weighing scale’ to measure the mass/volume of the fruit juice. It was made using a load cell and we 3D printed the cupholder. We also use Arduino for the calibration of the weighing scale.
Third Progress Meeting
20 June – 24 June
By this week, the main parts of the juicer have arrived. Firstly, we use a wooden cutting board to be the base of the compressor. We cut the base ourselves to fit the base of the pot.
Next, we manage to use a relay module to control the actuator (such that it will extend/contract/stop when certain mass is measured on the weighing scale we built the previous week.
25 June – 2 July
We started on building the frame and the whole structure of the juicer. The measurement was made based on the fridge in the lab (from autopotts group).
