Post 2: Now You’re Thinking With Claws!

We experimented with various claw shapes and plungers to figure out the mechanisms for controlling the claws. This helped us visualize how the shapes of the claw-opening mechanisms will affect the size of the opening, to aid in designing the final claw product.

While working on this, we came up with the idea of integrating the claw opening mechanism with the egg-cracking mechanism, with a trident-like mechanism. The two shorter prongs would open the claw, while a longer central prong would crack open the egg by pressing on it from above.

Further experimentation will be necessary to figure out how to optimize the design of the trident.
