We experimented with using Wenshan’s hair razor to cut the egg from below, but it, too, was not sharp enough to cut through the egg. We were getting frustrated at this point, so we thought that if a razor blade was insufficient, we’d go all out and get the sharpest blade we could get our hands on.

We used surgical scalpel blades to cut the egg from below, but it was still insufficient to cut through the egg. At this point, we were really getting frustrated with the idea of cutting through the egg, so we devised a proof-of-concept experiment to see if it was worth the trouble.

Once mounted on the spike, the separation of the claws was able to tear the eggshell in half, releasing the egg’s contents. This proved that the concept would work, but we still needed a way to mount the egg onto the blade before the claw could tear the egg apart.
We decided to save our remaining blades, and experimented with modifying the claw’s beak to crack the egg. In the end, lengthening the beak (and, by extension, making the spike steeper and thus thinner), we were able to mechanically mount an egg onto the spike.

We finally had that egg on a spike.
