Current Module Designs:

Ramp and Sorter Module:
This module controls the entry of eggs into the cracker module, allowing only one egg to enter the system at a time.

Our current ramp is sufficient for directing the movement of eggs into the cracker module, but is considerably unstable and would require further refinement. Also, it is quite ugly.

Cracker Module:
This module cracks and splits the eggs cleanly, releasing the contents while keeping the shell intact.

Our current design is capable of cracking eggs successfully, but not as cleanly as we would have hoped. A perfect, clean crack on the egg will occur only if the center of the egg is aligned with the breaker.

The shape of the plunger, along with the sponge lining the contact surface, allows it to wrap snugly around the egg. However, it is still incapable of consistently aligning the egg to achieve a perfect crack, which is something we are still working on.

Alongside this, we are looking into the integration of a rack and pinion mechanism to achieve the vertical movement of the cracker.

Cooker Module:
This module cooks the eggs evenly, producing a sunny-side up egg ready for consumption

We have opened up and examined the circuit of the electric cooker, which was deemed possible to hack by Tony. We have purchased a relay, and are currently waiting for it to arrive.

We have completed testing the cooking time and temperature for the eggs, and will work on achieving the target settings (165 degrees celsius, 5 minutes) once the electric cooker has been hacked and integrated successfully.

Flipper/Plating Module:
This module removes the non-stick pan from the heating plate, and flips its contents onto a nearby plate for consumption. The pan will then be returned to its initial position to receive the next egg.

We are currently considering using a conveyor belt system attached to a brace on the pan’s handle to shift it away from the electric plate, before flipping its contents onto a nearby plate.
