Our project has to achieve several functions simultaneously. Firstly, the primary function of flipping the pages of the the exam booklet. Secondary functions include feeding the booklets to the suction cup’s height and capturing photos of the pages.
The primary function will be achieved by a suction pump, attached to a mechanical arm that produces the flipping action. The suction would pick up the page, while the arm moves it across before the suction is switched off, releasing the page. This creates the our automated process of page flipping. Upon flipping each page, the cameras are coded to capture the pages, allowing the digitalisation of the exam script.
As the pages are flipped, the height of the stack of booklets will naturally decrease below the height that the flipping arm reaches. Hence, an elevating platform will be used to periodically adjust the height of the booklets.
