SNEK: Submarine Nautical Environment Kamera

SNEK is an underwater drone, intended for use in the fields of ecology, environment and marine biology. It is capable of surveillance and recording of environmental factors, as well as 360° mobility in the water. Our team is made up of four Year 1 progressing to Year 2 undergraduates from different disciplines: Jaslyn, Tiffany, Renee and Kiat Boon.

Meet the Makers

Chen Ru Ting Jaslyn

As the Treasurer of the team, Jaslyn looks out for finances and buying of parts for the project. She is a Chemistry major, and loves to listen and sing to Chinese songs because her Chinese ancestors laid a curse on her family to eat, sleep and love Chinese songs for an eternity. The curse can only be broken if Jaslyn finds the legendary Pearl of Truth that has been lost to the ages. The expedition has been set for the 2nd of July and we are in the midst of hiring a crew; if you know any captains that commandeer a large military cruiser, please refer them to us at 1800-SAVETHECHENFAMILY.

Tiffany is our Safety In-Charge, and ensures that procedures are done properly and responsibly. She is a Biology major and loves to watch anime and learn the Japanese language. One day she will marry a Japanese man and have 3 beautiful half-Japanese children. The eldest will be a policeman, the second a defense attorney, and the last The Antichrist (the Adversary, Destroyer of Kings, Angel of the Bottomless Pit, Great Beast that is called Dragon, Prince of This World, Father of Lies, Spawn of Satan and Lord of Darkness). Family dinners in 2070 are awkward.

Tan Hui Ying Renee

Being the Secretary, Renee takes down minutes for meetings and updates the blog. She enjoys several hobbies: swimming, reading, coin-collecting, sitting, eating, book-collecting, drawing, leaf-plucking, hole-punching, photography, soul-crushing, life-destroying, automatic, systematic, hydromatic, greased lightnin’, and painting.

Tan Kiat Boon

The leader of the group is Kiat Boon™, who keeps the project on track and on time. He is a Bioengineering major who aspires to become a manga artist, or as the Japanese call it, a Mangaka™. He wants to create a story that rivals popular series like Naruto and Ouran High School Host Club, and one day gain enough fans to amass an army of otakus that will invade Czechoslovakia and then not apologize for it. He fuels his action-filled days by only drinking Pokka™ green tea and consuming the souls of the damned.
