Pre-meeting
On 25 Aug, our group went down to the MnT lab to test the code that Glen had written. The code is everything that we have been doing on the software side, from connecting the Raspberry Pi to our phones, to controlling the stepper motor and pressing the buttons.
During meeting
It was a pretty uneventful morning, except that I typed ‘python’ instead of ‘python3’, which left us befuddled about what went wrong, since the code was working previously. We spent a good half an hour before I realised my error. Apart from that, we collected our print, which was working exactly as how Bryan wanted it to. However, we decided to make it longer and thicker because the back of the attachment was significantly bent.
Tony also suggested that we only tighten our attachment on one side. After thinking about how we can make the other side flat such that the rubber mat can be attached, we realised that our current design already allows for it. All we need to do is tighten one side while leaving the other side as it is, hence “Just because it’s there doesn’t mean we ought to use it”.
Post meeting
Our next objective is to create the circuit and PCB design, which will be explored by Glen and Yu Yun. Bryan and Zann will continue on the assembly of the fan attachment on the fan body.
