Our PCBs and other components arrived over the weekend, so off we headed for the MnT Lab on 8 Sept, Tuesday, for some soldering. Since we had 5 boards to play around with, each of us (Zann had lessons so she wasn’t around) took a board to solder on for fun.

Apart from my design mess-up that resulted in the H-bridge being upside down, and my wrongly purchasing surface mount transistors instead of through-hole transistors as designed, the rest of the 40 header holes, stepper motor driver, and voltage regulator holes were in the right places, which was good. The hardest part to solder was the 1k surface-mount resistor, which was terribly small (we probably needed to change the soldering iron tip to a smaller one), but it worked out in the end.

Unfortunately, the print that we left printing over the weekend was somehow terminated halfway, and we had to reprint that.
