After many group meetings and discussions on Zoom, as well as some consultation with Tony, we managed to narrow down our project idea to making a crystal clear ice maker. We tried our best to do as much research as possible to understand the mechanics behind making an ice maker and why clear ice. It was not easy, to be very honest. Having no prior knowledge to how an ice maker works, the endless amount of material online felt daunting. We decided to split the work to decrease the amount of content each one of us had to understand.

Prior to the meeting with Dr Ho, we managed to create a rough proposal of why we chose this project, the different techniques used to make an ice maker and our chosen technique – compressor method. After the meeting with Dr Ho, we realised that there was still a lot that we had to research on. He made us aware of considerations (eg. safety, different ways to go about investigating etc.) that we had not thought of. However, it was not much of a problem as we were still in Phase 1 of Post Circuit Breaker and had an extended deadline till end of AY20/21 Semester 1 to complete our project.
