From June 19th, Phase 2 of Post Circuit Breaker was implemented which meant that a group of maximum 5 people could go out. Eateries and a lot more shops were open. This meant that our group could finally meet outside of Zoom, in person to discuss our project. More importantly, we needed to get several materials like TEC 12715 Modules, Water Pipes, Water Cooling Blocks, Radiator and Copper Sheets. Since ordering online would require minimum of about 7 days till the arrival of our items, with the uncertainty of the quality of the products.
Taking an advantage of Phase 2, we decided to make our way down to the electronics hub, Sim Lim Square and Sim Lim Tower to check out a few stores for the items on our shopping list. Most of the items were overpriced but we managed to buy a temperature controller and a breadboard.
After a semi successful trip to Sim Lim Tower and Square, we decided to head over to Horme hardware store at Ubi to purchase things like pipes, pipe connector and Styrofoam. But before that, we had some delicious ramen for lunch. It felt a little odd but nice to have meals outside in a restaurant after months.
After a bus ride and some food in our belly, we were at Ubi. Horme hardware store was literally a hardware haven. It has all things hardware, from nuts and bolts to tires for trucks. We were excited to finally get all the things we require. We managed to get pipes that fit the water cooling blocks, as well as some silicon to protect the electrical components of our machine from coming into contact with water. We didn’t manage to get Styrofoam boards as they only cater to pre-orders.
Overall, it was a successful trip as we managed to get a few items for our machine. Some items are available cheaper online so we’ll be ordering them soon!
