Already the end of August :ooo we’ve been busily working on both the software involving codesys and RPI (Jerry and Dan Hong) and the hardware involving designing and sourcing the materials (Clarice and Shuchi).

Its been about a week since we’ve received our ice mold and contrary to our initial joy with it, we’ve realised the ice mold is problematic…. After leaving water in it for a few days, it began oxidising and having weird brown colourations in it. We returned it to the company and they treated it but it still had certain weird colourations and flaking so after an emergency discussion with Dr Ho.. our ice machine is no longer certified food-safe :””(

Besides that, we also began working on the actual manufacturing of the machine, starting with buying our water sump (IKEA), ice basket & funnel, water pipes and ordering our aluminium profiles & gussets (Prestech). Unlike what we thought, building our actual machine is really time-consuming as we have to measure and cut everything to size and make sure all our components fit snugly within our machine. This truly makes me appreciate how much work and design goes into our daily appliances..
