Following up on our previous post, we’ve finished designing our final ice mold clamp and backing with advice from Tony!!

While we were designing, we realised we needed a method to apply pressure to the peltiers such that they would be clamped to the ice mold perfectly. This is to ensure maximal contact between the peltiers and the ice mold for efficient heat transfer as otherwise air between the peltier and the ice mold can interfere significantly with the heat transfer. Shuchi designed the clamp and the backing with corresponding holes for us to screw the backing into the clamp with 40-50mm screws!

After that, we clamped down the pumps and tubing in our machine and connected the tubing to the waterblocks. The clamp and backing works beautifully 🙂
