Working Principle

Windowbot’s window cleaning ability requires the robot’s adhesion to the window. According to our researches on adhesion mechanism, we adopted the usage of EDF ducted fan with the support of skirtings on the sides in order to create a suction effect onto the window.

This combination of thrust from the fan and suction due to the addition of skirting allows Windowbot to easily move across a window using wheels, similar to the mechanism of a toy car.

On top of this convenient adhesion mechanism, in the era of IoT, we believe in the incorporation of mobile control to Windowbot. With the incorporate of a WiFi module, Windowbot can be easily controlled from a safe distance away using mobile phones. It must be noted that internet connection is not required as the WiFi module generates an Access Point to transmit and receive data for the phone.

In conclusion, Windowbot utilises the beauty of Physics, and the fun and entertaining design of something simple i.e. a toy car.
