Typically using a Linux-based operating system known as ‘Raspbian’, it is capable of running several coding languages such as; Python, JavaScript, Scratch & etc. With control General-Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) pins on the Raspberry Pi, it uses your preferred coding language to control electronic components such as displays, sensors & more.

If you are someone who is interested in learning to utilise Flight controllers such as this, I highly recommend reading up on Firmwares available (eg. Ardupilot, PX4 Flight Stack, BetaFlight). We recommend Ardupilot as it is the most well-documented and loved in the RC community. Thoroughly read through the documentation and carefully plan the type of Motors, Telemetry and Ground Control Stations (GCS) you will be using. Good luck! You’d need it. 💪

The Continuous Rotation Servo can turn in a Clockwise or Counter-Clockwise direction. Turning speed and direction is determined by the pulse width modulation (PWM) signals, in other words, the length of the pulse.

Motor Driver

A brushed ESC, it controls and regulates electric motors through pulse width modulation (PWM) signals, allowing for forward movement, reverse movement and dynamic breaking.

Typically consisting of a microcontroller & H-bridge, the firmware installed within the microcontroller interprets input signals from the Pixhawk or RC receivers and outputs the PWM signals to the brushed DC motors for movement.
