Our group aims to implement smart food storage for a fridge.  By using a combination of software (AI) and hardware (multi-camera setup), we aim to create an efficient manner for users to track an inventory of items in a fridge. A telegram bot will send push notifications to the user to remind them of expiring foods in their fridges. Other functions such as updating inventory list and checking items with certain expiration shelf lives has also been incorporated into the bot. Overall, we aim to create a hassle-free device for users to employ across all fridges as an ‘upgrade’ to a normal fridge.

 

Vision

The main motivation for this project stems from two main drivers –  Discrepancy in prices between a normal and smart fridge, as well as food wastage due to expired food. Hence, we aim to reduce food wastage by developing a inventory system to help each user keep track of, and remind users of expiring food at a low cost.
