Description
We have identified some limitations of current tray return robots and have come up with solutions to tackle each of these problems.

Vision
We aim to create a tray return robot that would be able to encourage a culture of returning one’s tray by increasing convenience and efficiency.

Key Features

  • Mobile base robot that can lift and deposit tray rack
    • Line tracking for navigation and giving instructions to robot
    • Distance sensors to detect obstacles and stop to prevent collision
    • Linear actuators for loading and unloading
    • Weight sensors to trigger return to docking station
  • Tray rack that can stand on its own
    • Base robot able to fit underneath
    • Trays returned on either side
