Cooking up a storm!
The 17MC Holistic Development Portfolio’s MasterChef Yang event hosted by Chef Tim from In Bad Company gave scholars a break from their academic routine with a hands-on cooking workshop. Blending fun with personal growth, the session guided participants in crafting a delicious Seafood Marinara Pasta, with a vegetarian option available for those who had dietary restrictions.
The workshop began with Chef Tim introducing essential cooking techniques, from slicing onions to making tomato sauce from scratch. As scholars chopped, sautéed and simmered, they learnt how to handle themselves in the kitchen and to turn simple ingredients into restaurant-worthy dishes.
Chef Tim’s enthusiasm and passion for cooking was boundless, creating a welcoming atmosphere for our scholars. For many, it was their first time cooking a full meal with their friends, with each mistake becoming a chance for them to learn and improve.
Beyond cooking skills, the event fostered teamwork and connection. Scholars shared tips, helped one another and bonded over the joy of creating and enjoying their own meals. This event not only equipped scholars with the essential skills they needed in the kitchen but also provided them with a well-needed break from their studies.
A huge thank you to the 17MC HD portfolio for organising this fun-filled event!
