The Batik is a traditional cultural art involved in Singapore. It is usually worn in formal or casual events and used in various rituals, ceremonies and even in daily uses. Batik is a technique wax-resist dyeing applied to cloth. It is made either by drawing the dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called a canting or printing the resist with a copper stamp.
With this, the Heritage Club introduced batik painting workshop with the introduction of the histories and processes of batik to the participants.
The highlight of the event would be the batik painting session. The participants were given pre-waxed cloths with multiple colors of paint that they could take home their unique hand-painted fabric. Participants seemed to enjoy the process of painting while interacting with our coordinators comprised by the subcommittees.
