Annual General Meeting

Date: 31st August 2023 (Thursday)
Time: 7.00pm – 10.00pm
Venue: NS LT1A

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) was a pivotal event, serving as both an investiture ceremony for our newly elected management committees, outgoing management committees, and special event committees, and as a window into the NTU Heritage Club’s plans for the academic year 2023/2024.

The evening commenced with a delightful meal, offering a relaxed atmosphere for networking, and fostering fellowship among attendees. Following dinner, we gathered in LT1A to officially kick off the AGM proceedings. Mr. Tan Yoong Ken, our incoming president, took the stage to address the AGM’s agenda, which was subsequently passed with a majority vote.

Associate Professor Kevin Peter Blackburn graced us with an enlightening opening speech on the role we can all play in conserving both tangible and intangible heritage, setting the tone for the evening. Ms. Mar Ying Zhi, our incoming Honorary General Secretary, presented the minutes of the 2022 AGM Meeting, while Ms. Soon Chee Ning, our incoming Financial Controller, presented the Financial Statement. Both documents were approved with a majority vote.

During this event, we had the privilege of hearing from our outgoing President, Ms. Ng Woon Yee, who delivered her heartfelt remarks through a pre-recorded video. Following this, Mr. Kevin Yok, the outgoing Vice President, provided a comprehensive overview of the club’s past achievements, major events, and activities.

One of the significant moments of the evening was the handover ceremony from the outgoing management committee to the newly elected management committee. Letters of appreciation were presented to the outgoing committees, while letters of appointment were given to the incoming committees.

Mr. Tan Yoong Ken then took the stage again to outline the NTU Heritage Club’s annual work plan for the academic year 2023/2024, which was approved with a majority vote. Ms. Samantha Oh Jing Yi, the incoming Vice President, shared her insights into the club’s visions and missions for the upcoming year, followed by a Q&A session.

The event concluded with a memorable photo-taking session, capturing the spirit of camaraderie and unity among all participants, and the AGM adjourned at 9.15 PM.

We are delighted to report that feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with an average score of 4.64/5.0 for the overall flow of the event, 4.67/5.0 for the enrichment of understanding, 4.65/5.0 for the quality of presentation, and an impressive 4.78/5.0 for the event’s duration. We are grateful for the support and engagement of all attendees and look forward to an exciting year ahead! 🌟🤝
