Clade
Say hello to SBS’ very own house system, CLADE!!
Introduced in 2020 and subsequently established in 2021, the Clade system is an initiative started by the BS Club with the aim of creating small groups that instils a sense of belonging within students to these groups and SBS as a whole.
Through the Clade system, Clade members will be able to get both emotional and academic support from their peers, seniors, alumni, and faculty attached to the Clades, also known as Clade parents. Clade members will also get to enjoy fun games and activities that are planned exclusively for Clade members, including intra-Clade bonding activities and inter-Clade competitions. Clade members will also enjoy exclusive access to the Clade room, a cosy space for friends to hang out in between lessons or after school.
Cygnus
[sig-nuhs]: Cygnus, represented by the swan, is the constellation that is most prominent in the Summer night sky.
This is the Clade of Loyalty – everyone here is exactly where they are meant to be, and exactly where they want to be.
Together, their passion and devotion to shared causes makes them a force to be reckoned with.
The Cygnus Clade logo depicts a swan that is elegant and graceful. Its neck arches inwards and fiercely protects the crown it beholds, resting safely on its wings.
This crown signifies loyalty towards the Clade and its members. The colours were chosen in line with the theme of summer.
Hydra
[ hai-drah ]: Hydra, represented by a water snake, is the largest of the 88 constellations and dominates the night sky in Spring.
This is the Clade of Resilience – working together, this Clade can achieve anything and never yield in the face of adversity.
Like the mythical Hydra, every time this Clade is knocked down it comes back twice as strong.
The Hydra Clade logo depicts two water snakes forming an infinity symbol with the tails in the middle to signify the binding strength that holds individuals together
and keeps them from falling apart. The colours were chosen in line with the theme of spring.
Andromeda
[an-drom-i-duh]: The Andromeda constellation is one of the most dominant constellations in Autumn.
It is named after the daughter of King Cepheus of Ethiopia and Queen Cassiopeia in Greek mythology, who was sacrificed to save the land.
Like its namesake, this Clade is selfless and always willing to help the ones around them in times of need.
The Andromeda Clade logo depicts the eye of the princess as a piece of the human heart. The main artery of the human body, the aorta, segments the all-seeing eye in the middle,
signifying a willingness to sacrifice and be selfless for the greater good. The colours were chosen in line with the theme of autumn.
Orion
[ uh-rahy-uhn ]: The Orion constellation is the most dominant constellation in the winter night sky and resembles the mythical hunter Orion.
It is one of the brightest and best-known constellations.
Like its namesake, the Orion Clade embodies courage and are the people who will stand up for one another and are never afraid to go against the status quo to support what is right.
The Orion Clade logo depicts Orion’s arrow pointing upward towards the sky, and mountains with the moon on the horizon.
It symbolises endless courage to keep moving forward regardless of the challenges ahead and the uphill battle members of Orion are willing to fight to achieve their goals.
The colours were chosen in line with the theme of winter.
