Dr. Sarjit Singh

BBM(L), BBM, PBM, FCA(Australia), FCA(Singapore), CVA, ISCA FFP, PhD (Hon)

Industry Advisor of NTU-IIC since Jan 2010

Recognised by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as a ‘financial industry talent’, Sarjit was the recipient of the Nanyang Alumni Achievement Award in 2012. He served as an Adjunct Associate Professor at NTU from 2010 to 2016, sharing his expertise in Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Auditing, and Financial Reporting and Analysis.

In addition to his professional roles, Sarjit serves as the Immediate Past Chairman of the Singapore Overseas Regional Council of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand; is a member of the Advocacy Committee of The Institute of Internal Auditors Singapore; and serves on the Investigations and Disciplinary Panel, and the Global Talent Taskforce Programme at the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.

In 2023, Sarjit was appointed by the Ministry of Education to the Board of Trustees of the University of the Arts Singapore (UAS) and became the founding chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee at UAS.

In his community work, Sarjit serves as Vice-President of the Singapore Indian Development Association, District Councillor and Chairman of the Finance Committee for the Central Singapore Community Development Council, and is a board member of OnePeople.sg.

Sarjit’s contributions have been recognised with multiple accolades. He was conferred three national honours from the President of the Republic of Singapore, including the Public Service Star (Bar) in 2021, the Public Service Star in 2011, and the Public Service Medal in 2007. In 2019, he was honoured with the prestigious SkillsFuture Fellowship by the President of the Republic of Singapore for his mastery of skills and mentorship of future talent.

A dynamic community leader, Sarjit’s past appointments include serving on the National Longevity Insurance Committee (CPF Life) in 2007, and the Committee on the Future Economy (CFE) – Working Group on Legal and Accounting Services in 2016.

Sarjit has completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School and is an alumnus of Harvard University.

 

 

Assoc Prof Matthew Dearth

Associate Professor in Nanyang Technological University of Sustainable Finance

Faculty Advisor of NTU-IIC since Dec 2023

Passionate about finance and with a wealth of both academic and industry expertise, A/P Matthew Louis Dearth (“Prof. Matthew”) is in a great position to join NTU Investment-Interactive Club (NTU-IIC) as a faculty advisor. Not only does he bring with him deep financial knowledge, but his access to resources and networks enables him to facilitate NTU-IIC’s access to information to enhance our research capabilities and to industry experts and illustrious academics.

With a PhD in Business and a wealth of research including a dissertation on the industry expertise of sell-side equity analysts, Prof. Matthew’s depth of knowledge and academic credentials will allow him to help steer the club in the right direction, following the club’s vision and mission to optimise the value-add that the club can give to its members.

Prof. Matthew has clearly exhibited the ability and desire to enhance NTU-IIC’s connections to his network. This has allowed us to increase the quality of our events by widening the pool of speakers and guests of high pedigree that will add value to NTU-IIC events.

This also presents NTU-IIC members unparalleled opportunities for networking with both industry professionals and academic powerhouses, enabling NTU-IIC to create learning opportunities for its members that would be otherwise hard or impossible to obtain. NTU-IIC believes that such opportunities will give its members glimpses into the industry and insights that would equip its members with the relevant knowledge to expedite their journey in both personal and professional finance.

Prof. Matthew’s feedback has been integral in the planning of our financial events and has heightened the standard to which they can be executed. The quality and speed of his correspondence with the club has stuck out to us and we believe that it has shown his genuine concern for the welfare of club members and sincere belief in the value of the events that NTU-IIC organises.

It is because of his ability, resources and alignment with club values and vision that NTU-IIC will greatly benefit from having Prof. Matthew take over as club advisor. His insights and expertise will enhance all club activities, from NTU-IIC’s large-scale financial events to its research and education seminars.

Assoc Prof Angie Low

Associate Professor in Nanyang Business School and Head of Division of Banking & Finance

Ex-Faculty Advisor of NTU-IIC

Dr Angie Low is currently an Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University. She has taught Finance for more than a decade at the College of Business (Nanyang Business School). She has taught Corporate Finance and Advanced Corporate Finance before and is currently the coordinator of Financial Management, an undergraduate module. Dr Low, completed her undergraduate studies at Nanyang Business School and graduated with first class honors in 2001. Post college, she obtained  her Ph.D. in Finance from Ohio State University and received the René M. Stulz Scholar Development Award the same year.

Dr Low has published several papers and received numerous awards, with a notable few – Best Referee Award 2015, Quarterly Journal of Finance , Researcher of the Year 2010 & 2015, Division of Banking and Finance, NTU and Best Paper Award 2013, Chinese Finance Association (TCFA). Her research interests include corporate governance, managerial compensation, corporate culture and capital structure.

Dr Low is notably an alumnus who was part of the pioneer batch of students who created NTU-IIC. Till date, she actively contributes back to the club to guide students to take it to greater heights.

 

Dr. Lilian Koh N.K.

Ex-Faculty Advisor of NTU-IIC

Dr. Lilian Koh N.K. is a prominent figure in the field of finance and education in Singapore.

With a background of 17 years in the Ministry of Education, she later became a Faculty Associate at A*STAR and a Principal Investigator of reseach grants at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Dr. Koh is the Founder and Chair of the FinTech Academy, playing a key role in developing talent programs and certifications for fintech in collaboration with universities.

Simultaneously, she serves as an Advisor to the Institute of Blockchain, Singapore, overseeing certification courses in blockchain. In her earlier role as an advisor to the NTU Investment Interactive Club (NTU-IIC), Dr. Koh initiated financial literacy programs and education activities for undergraduates and educators. Additionally, she chaired the Citi-NIE Financial Literacy Hub for Teachers.

Beyond academia, Dr. Koh has been recognized internationally, serving as an International Consultant for the World Bank and providing consultation to organizations such as the National Healthcare Group, Pearson, Citigroup, and UNESCO. As Director of the Center for Research and Innovation @ NTUitive, a spin-off of NTU, Dr. Koh has contributed significantly to research and innovation. She also held the position of Chair of the Center of Financial Education at NTU in partnership with Citi and SGX.

 

Kevin Yok

25th Vice-President of NTU-IIC &
Student Advisor of NTU-IIC

Kevin Yok is an Economics and Data Science undergraduate and ASEAN Undergraduate Scholar at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), as well as a dedicated leader in NTU Investment Interactive Club (NTU-IIC). Since joining NTU in July 2021, Kevin has played a pivotal role in revitalizing the club post-pandemic, steering it toward greater heights. Starting as a Facilitator, Event Executive, and Emcee for the National Cashflow Competition (NCF) 2022, he later spearheaded the transition of NCF 2023 back to a large-scale physical event, expanding its reach to 600 participants and 100 facilitators. As Vice President in AY23/24, Kevin successfully restored all of NTU-IIC’s flagship events to their pre-pandemic scale, ensuring their continued impact. In recognition of his leadership, Kevin and his team received the CoLab4Good Award for Service to Society for their projects on Global Money Week 2024 and NCF 2024. Now serving as a Student Advisor in AY24/25, he continues to mentor the 26th Executive Committee, furthering NTU-IIC’s commitment to financial literacy. He is also a pioneer in launching the club’s key initiatives such as the Financial Education Outreach led by Ze Kai, Software Operations led by Bryan, and Singapore Global Money Week led by Zi Yan, further cementing NTU-IIC’s role in financial education.

Beyond NTU-IIC, Kevin is part of NTU’s Student Leadership Development Programme including the Impactful Leadership Programme and Senior Leadership Programme. He has been trained to lead effectively in dynamic environments and has mentored junior leaders, guiding them throughout their student leadership journey. Kevin is also an NTU Core Ambassador, hosting international conferences and engaging foreign delegates, fostering cross-cultural exchange.
