Financial Education Outreach 2024

From 15 February to 4 March 2024, the Financial Education Outreach (FEO) team made substantial progress in promoting financial literacy among students across five regions. This year, the initiative was conducted in major educational institutions such as Outram Secondary School, St. Anthony’s Canossian Secondary School, Naval Base Secondary School, Nanyang Technological University, and Holy Innocents’ High School.

The strategic locations of these sessions provided great convenience for participants, leading to significantly improved turnout rates. The primary objective of these training sessions was to level the playing field and allow participants to gain a better understanding of the gameplay and rules before competing in the Cashflow Challenge, which serves as a lead-up to the National Cashflow Competition 2024 (NCF).

To infuse a competitive spirit and attract a broader audience, FEO 2024 introduced a competition element similar to the NCF. Participants were randomly grouped into teams of four to five. After a briefing on the rules of the L Cube Pro, an hour-long Cashflow Challenge session formally commenced. Each session concluded with five victors, each receiving a cash voucher and the interactive Debtzilla Board Game as prizes.

Throughout the event, we were heartened to see how engaged the participants were. They eagerly immersed themselves in the activities and games, demonstrating a strong willingness to learn about financial management. Whenever they had questions, they actively sought guidance from facilitators, reflecting their enthusiasm for mastering financial concepts.

One of the most rewarding moments was seeing participants leave with smiles on their faces, empowered with new financial knowledge. Their enthusiasm reaffirmed the impact of initiatives like FEO in boosting financial confidence. We look forward to organizing more events to help even more individuals develop essential financial skills.
