Welcome

Our Story

RCY NTU is dedicated to relieving human suffering, protecting lives and dignity, and responding to emergencies. We also strive to instill and strengthen core values – compassion, passion, and professionalism – in our members. Established in 1994, the Chapter has since expanded to 6 portfolios – Blood Donation and Donor Recruitment, Chapter Relations and Engagement, Community Engagement, First Aid, Fundraising and Publicity.

We are an event-based club, and our members have the flexibility to join and participate in our events as a volunteer (helping on the day of event), sub-committee member (working with other sub-committee members to plan events), or a management committee member (additional responsibility in planning and ensuring success of events). At RCY NTU, personal development is valued, and we aim to ensure that members will gain invaluable experiences in providing welfare services, leadership management, and event planning.

Through the events organized by our 6 portfolios, we work to provide volunteering opportunities to our members, members of the NTU community, and the public, within and outside of the university.

Our Portfolios

Blood Donation and Donor Recruitment (BDDR)

Did you know that Singapore needs 400 units of blood every day? One unit of blood saves up to 3 lives.

Blood Donation and Donor Recruitment (BDDR) is the portfolio forming the backbone of Red Cross Youth NTU’s blood donation efforts. Apart from organizing bi-annual Blood Donation Drives in NTU to provide a convenient avenue for the NTU community to donate blood in partnership with Singapore Red Cross (SRC) and Health Sciences Authority (HSA), the team also strives to educate the community on the importance and impact of blood donation.

Chapter Relations and Engagement (CRE)

The bedrock of any committee that not only carries out its duties but goes above and beyond to make a change is a bonded team. Devoted to empowering every Chapter member and to bond the Chapter tightly together, our Chapter Relations and Engagement (CRE) portfolio devise ways to deliver trust and friendship-building activities, as well as personal and team development workshops, to the entire committee. From planning an orientation to helping newcomers settle in – to conducting a welfare pack distribution drive to encourage the team to power through their exams, the CRE team put together memorable experiences for Red Cross Youth NTU’s members.

Community Engagement (CE)

Ready to volunteer passionately in a multitude of community service initiatives?

Our Community Engagement (CE) portfolio is dedicated to serving the community through a series of projects and initiatives to directly engage our beneficiaries on a monthly basis (excluding exam periods). In the stressful pandemic times, the presence of our members and their contributions greatly impact these beneficiaries directly as there are endless programmes that could be crafted, such as befriending, community health check-up, first aid awareness, health food sharing, and many more!

First Aid (FA)

What is the first thing you should do if you find someone collapsed? Equip yourself with first aid and life support skills, and the better chance you will have in helping people in need, especially those around us!

First Aid – one of Red Cross’s most well-known functions – is represented by Red Cross Youth NTU’s very own First Aid (FA) portfolio. Our FA portfolio is NTU’s premier voluntary first aid coverage provider, and we work with various events in NTU to provide first aid coverage when needed. Beyond proving first aid coverage, FA portfolio conducts workshops for NTU community to encourage individuals to take charge and learn skills which could save lives in emergency situations.

Fundraising (FR)

Supporting various causes in Singapore and beyond is what motivated the Fundraising (FR) portfolio to carry out multiple fundraising exercises through new and engaging ways such as a bubble tea sale, a donation drive for pre-loved clothes and tote bags, as well as disaster-relief fundraising campaigns.

Publicity (PUBS)

Serving as a vital link between the Red Cross Youth NTU Chapter, the NTU population, and the public, the Publicity (PUBS) portfolio plays a crucial role in supporting the growth and success of the Chapter.
