Picture1

What defines a USP alumnus and how can we make the best out of our USP experience? We interviewed some of our alumni from the pioneer USP batch to find out more about their experiences and what they have learnt on hindsight. Our first feature is Aaron Wee! Aaron graduated with a Bachelor of Business specialising in Marketing in 2015. He followed his passion for the tourism and aviation sector by starting his career at SATS Ltd under their Graduate Programme. He is currently a Baggage Executive at SATS Ltd. Here are his responses to our interview questions.

Q1: What made you choose your current job?
A: Love for the tourism and aviation sector, the glamour of working at the airport and maybe the chance to meet and know the gorgeous cabin crew from Singapore Airlines too? (Laughs)
Q2: How have you benefitted from USP in your character and professional development? Are there any specific examples of activities that you were involved in the USP and what did you gain from them?
A: Initiatives such as the Leadership Development Program (LDP) have helped me learn more about myself. I got to know more about how to carry myself at the workplace and to sell myself as a leader and a hard worker.
Q3: A USP Alumnus is … (Describe with 3 – 5 characteristics.)
A: Fun, Smart, Responsible and Humble.
Q4: What would you have done differently if you could relive your university life?
A: Make more friends, network more, be more visible.
Any points specific to USP?
A: Know more of my fellow USP peers.
Any advice for the current students?
A: Work hard, play hard. And enjoy the life of a student as much as you can!
Q5: What other activities did you participate in university and what did you gain from it?
A: Unfortunately I didn’t participate much in other activities as an undergraduate, which is something I kind of regret. I did however manage to find some time here and there to do some writing, which I found to be quite therapeutic. In any case, I believe that whatever one is involved in, there is something to take away from it. So live in the moment!
Q6: What is one thing you miss most about being a student?
A: My friends, the professors, the freedom. And the list goes on… (Laughs)
Q7: What is one thing you enjoy most about being a working adult?
A: The ability to make use of my knowledge to make a difference. It makes me feel useful and needed.

  1. Aaron,
Thank you for returning to talk to the upcoming graduates about life after NTU. You made a wonderful presentation. It is exciting to see our pioneer batch head into the “real” world of work.

Fortunately for you, you still have a lifetime of opportunity to participate in USP functions as a graduate of the programme. USP is not only just an undergraduate programme. With your batch, it is now an alumni programme as well. We look forward to hearing more about your adventures, what you learn, and how the USP (programme AND students) have enriched your life.
