The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences warmly congratulates the Class of 2021. Every year, academic prizes are awarded to undergraduate students who have turned in excellent final year projects and achieved outstanding academic results. Here are the winners for this year:
Staff Recreation Club Book Prize – Cheryl Ng Tsuei Yi
This book prize is awarded to the final year student in the Mathematics and Economics or Mathematical Sciences and Economics programmes with the highest marks in the final year project. This year, it was won by Cheryl Ng Tsuei Yi, whose thesis was titled “Effect of minimum wage increase on employment and wage levels”.
Pfizer Book Prize – Terence Ho Yan King
This book prize is awarded to the final year student in Chemistry & Biological Chemistry with the best final year project. This year, Terence Ho Yan King won the prize for his project, titled “Inducing Thermoreversible Optical Transitions in Urethane-Acrylate Systems via Ionic Liquid Incorporation for Stretchable Smart Devices”.
Ng Kong Beng Best Project Prize in Mathematical Sciences – Lim Enhui
This book prize is awarded to the final year student in the Mathematical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Economics, Mathematical and Computer Sciences, or Physics and Mathematical Sciences programmes with the best final year project. This year’s prize was won by Lim Enhui for his thesis, which was titled “Generalised rank weights of quasi-cyclic codes”.
Mr & Mrs Goh Teng Loon Book Prize – Ng Say Sin Sherwin
This book prize is awarded to an outstanding chemistry student from a non-graduating year. This year, it was awarded to Ng Say Sin Sherwin, a year three student.
Singapore Mathematical Society Gold Medal cum Book Prize – Fang Xiaowei
This prize is awarded each year to the student with the best overall performance in the Mathematical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Economics, Mathematical and Computer Sciences, or Physics and Mathematical Sciences programmes. This year, it was won by Fang Xiaowei from the Mathematical Sciences programme.
