On 29 January, NTU College of Science (CoS) invited prospective students to tune into an online Career Talk via livestream and to bring with them their burning questions on university life in NTU, an academic path in Science, and what career prospects they could have with a Science degree.

School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences

Livestreamed on its YouTube channel, the event was organised by CoS in conjunction with its four Schools: Asian School of the Environment (ASE), School of Biological Sciences (SBS), School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS), and the new School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB). Several CoS alumni were invited to share their experiences of university life and the career paths they have taken.

Their careers were an eclectic mix: among the speakers were a traditional Chinese medicine physician, a junior college schoolteacher, a data science engineer and an investment analyst.

Each of the Schools had an hour-long broadcast session. Hosted by faculty members, each session consisted of a sharing segment by the alumni speakers, who gave some background into their courses and careers, followed by a Q&A segment, where prospective students were invited to write in questions for the speakers to answer.

With over 1,400 registrants for the event, the E-Career Talk was able to introduce prospective students to NTU Science and give them an invaluable peek into university life as well as what careers await them upon graduating with a Science degree.
