Established in 2000 by the Institute of Chemistry, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan, the Ta-Shue Chou Lectureship Award is dedicated to the memory of the Institute’s late director, Professor Ta-Shue Chou, who was a passionate synthetic organic chemist. The Award focuses on the fields of organic and bioorganic chemistry, chemical biology, and the study of organic materials. Since 2015, it has been dedicated as a mid-career award to honour international recipients who have achieved great success in their research. Past recipients include scientists from the University of Texas at Austin and the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung, Germany.
The recipient for the 2023 Ta-Shue Chou Lectureship Award is Professor Tan Choon Hong from the NTU School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB). He was nominated for the Award based on his works in synthetic organic chemistry, including research into metal-catalysed organic reactions, asymmetric synthesis methodologies, and total synthesis of natural/non-natural organic frameworks. Professor Tan has been invited to speak at the Institute during the “Frontiers in Synthetic Organic Chemistry – A Symposium Dedicated to the Memory of Prof. Ta-Shue Chou” in 2023, and to share his research experience with the Institute’s faculty and young researchers/students.
The College of Science wishes to congratulate Professor Tan on receiving this prestigious award in recognition of his hard work and scientific contributions!
