On December 15, 2024, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Chinese Medicine successfully hosted the 2024 Singapore International TCM Clinical Heritage Lecture Series. Themed “Inheritance of Lingnan Luo’s Gynecology and Advances in Gynecological Disease Treatment,” the event attracted numerous experts and scholars from the field of traditional Chinese medicine.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Teo Ho Pin, Chairman of the Singapore TCM Practitioners Board, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He warmly congratulated the organizers on the event’s success and extended heartfelt gratitude to Ngee Ann Kongsi for their generous sponsorship and support. Dr. Teo highlighted Ngee Ann Kongsi’s longstanding support for the development of TCM, emphasizing its indispensable role in the preservation and innovation of this field, which has provided significant momentum for its advancement.

In October this year, Ngee Ann Kongsi donated SGD 12.5 million to NTU to support the development of its Chinese Medicine degree program. This generous contribution not only aids in cultivating a new generation of TCM leaders locally but also elevates the role and standing of TCM within Singapore’s healthcare system, fostering both its heritage and modernization.

The event was honored to feature Professor Luo Songping and Professor Gao Jie from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine as keynote speakers. Professor Luo Songping, a distinguished doctoral supervisor, Qihuang Scholar, National TCM Master, and an outstanding inheritor of Lingnan Luo’s Gynecology, is renowned for her profound expertise in clinical practice and academic research. Her contributions to TCM education and heritage are significant, and she has actively promoted international exchanges and cooperation in TCM. In recognition of her exceptional academic achievements and global influence, Professor Luo was appointed the “Visiting Ngee Ann Kongsi Professor in Traditional Chinese Medicine” at NTU.

During her visit, Professor Luo was accompanied by her academic team, including Professor Gao Jie and three young, outstanding scholars. Together, they conducted a series of academic activities. On December 14, the team hosted a public lecture titled “Focusing on Women’s Health: Safeguarding Reproductive Health with TCM,” which was warmly received by the audience. On December 16, Professor Luo’s team will lead an academic seminar at NTU, delving into the topic of “The Theory of the Reproductive Axis from the Perspective of the Five Organs.” Additionally, the team held discussions with NTU’s research team to explore potential collaborations in reproductive health research, furthering international academic exchanges and scientific progress in TCM.

This lecture series not only showcased the academic heritage and innovative advancements of Lingnan Luo’s Gynecology but also infused new vitality into Singapore’s TCM development, making a meaningful contribution to the internationalization and progression of TCM.
