An SBS PhD student from Asst Prof Amartya Sanyal’s lab, Ankur represented Singapore to compete against the other representatives from Australia, New Zealand, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Brunei, Myanmar and Taiwan. His presentation on his research relating to explore the gene regulatory mechanisms of liver in different physiological and pathological conditions using mouse liver as a model eventually won him the honour.

Here’s what Ankur had to say on his experience representing Singapore: “All the participants were winners from their respective countries. As expected, the competition was tough and judges had to be ruthless to get the best of bests. It felt amazing when Mr. Siong Tang, the Chairperson for the Communities Committee – Asia Pacific, announced my name. My research was appreciated by everyone and people loved my take home message: “How well we LIVE depends on how healthy is our LIVE+R (Liver)”.”
