Project soaL is an International Service Project (ISP) in Luang Prabang, Laos. The project consists of three segments :

1) Construction of a classroom block in Phongsavang Secondary School

2) Conducting English Lessons at Phongsavang Secondary School, and

3) Visitation to the Special School for the Deaf where the team held a Frisbee Sports Clinic for the children, conducted a hands-on sushi and tang-yuan making activity, and also prepared lunch for them.

Phongsavang Secondary School is a rural school located in the village of Ban Phongsavang, Luang Prabang Province. The school has an estimated population of 480 students and caters to students from seven different villages. The school serves students from poor farming towns. They receive little or no assistance from the government. Secondary school students are not subsidized by the state and hence schools are left ill-equipped.

The School for the Deaf in Luang Prabang runs a primary and secondary school for children and youth from age 8 to 25. The school currently has about 60 students and it hopes to cater to more disabled children from different provinces.

Sometimes the poorest of the poor and the disabled were far richer than anyone of us could imagine.Aradhana, Student Volunteer
