Getting Started

Site and Space is hosted on WordPress. WordPress is a content management system (CMS) that allows any number of registered users to create, edit, publish and manage content easily. As a registered participant, you will be able to contribute to this site by adding field notes to the individual project sites, adding reading lists to the bibliography lists and facilitating discussions in the forums. Get started by following the steps below.

The structure and content of this site is managed by a team of administrators. If you require any assistance, you can contact the team at dst@ntu.edu.sg.

Logging In

1. Click on the Log In button in the admin bar

2. Click on Guest login here

3. Key in your credentials, and log in

Editing Your Profile & Avatar

Profile

1. Click on the link in the e-mail sent by the system. You will be redirected to the site’s dashboard

2. On the dashboard, hover over your avatar on the top right-hand corner

3. Click on Edit My Profile

4. Update your:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Nickname
  • Biography (optional)

Avatar

5. On the left side of the page, click on Your Avatar

6. Upload your preferred photograph to be used as your avatar

Viewing Field Notes

1. On the main menu, hover over Sites

2. Hover over your project location

3. Click on Field Notes

Adding Field Notes

1. Go to the Field Notes page of your project location

2. Click on the + button

If you are redirected to a page with the message “You do not have permission to view this form.”, simply click on the ‘Log In’ button on the top left-hand corner of the page.

3. If, and when prompted, allow your browser to access your location

4. On the forms page, select your Field Note Group

5. Fill up the form:

  • Title
  • Select field note type and upload media
  • Description
  • Keywords

6. The Address field will automatically detect your current location. Alternatively, you can search for a location by typing the address in the field.

 
7. Select the preferred visibility status for your post:

  • Draft: Incomplete post, only you can view
  • Private: Post hidden from the public, only logged-in users can view
  • Published: Everyone including the public can view

8. Click Add to complete your submission

9. Your post will appear on the Field Notes page

 
Editing Field Notes

1. Go to the Field Notes page of your project location

2. Select the field note to be edited

3. Click on the Edit icon on top of the post’s featured image

4. Make the necessary changes

5. Update your post visibility status
