Research Fellow

About Namal

Namal graduated with a B.Sc. (Computer Science & Engineering) from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2009 and with a Ph.D from Nanyang Technological University in 2015. During his Ph.D. he worked on developing algorithms for improving 2D exploration algorithms that uses the frontier heuristic. He’s currently researching the development of efficient algorithms for UGV and UAV exploration in 3D environments, multi-robot collaborative exploration in such environments, 3D perception for navigation of mobile robots and 3D path planning for UAVs.

Ehsan Mihankhah

Ehsan Mihankhah

Research Fellow

About Ehsan

Ehsan is a research fellow in the school of EEE of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, who received his PhD in 2018 from the same school. He received his BSc in Electrical Engineering (Control systems) in 2006 and his MSc of Mechatronics in 2009 with first class honors. Ehsan has participated in many International robotic competitions and has won number of technical and innovation awards for design and development of search and rescue robots in Germany, Japan, and China. He has been the founder of two companies in which industrial robots and machineries were designed and developed for gold industry, construction industry, plastic injection molding, and Aluminum die-casting. His recent research focus is on place detection and recognition through non-feature-based methodologies, and object detection in outdoor and industrial environment through geometric techniques.
