Description
An investigation into the concept of “the Simultaneous”, as introduced by Sonia Delauny and her concept of Simultaneous Fashion in 1921.
“These Shoes are made for Painting” is a multidisciplinary collision of genres, live on stage, in the form of a 10-minute pop performance piece using ready made objects and the mapping of sound to coloured paint in action.
Paint, Choreography, fashion, music and art, blur in meaningful real-time interactions. Realized through the gesture of physical painting, which is mapped onto various parameters, the piece culminates to create a new form of body-centric musical instrument performance prototype.
The gestures of painting are transposed into sound, through colourful compositions, which build into a crescendo of alternating duration and intensity, painting an overall audio visual composition.
