We warmly invite PhD students who are deeply passionate about youth psychopathology and affective neuroscience, particularly those focused on depression research and the dynamics of parent-youth interactions, to become part of our team. Interested candidates are requested to apply for admissions for the January/August 2025 intake for which applications open from 1 June to 15 July (for the January intake) and 1 October to 15 November (for the August intake).
Position Requirements:
- A good Bachelor’s and Master’s degree (at least second-upper) in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Science, or related technical and computational fields.
- Experience in designing, collecting, and analyzing human psychological experiments.
- Proficiency in SPSS/Jamovi, E-Prime, and related software.
- Experience in collecting and analyzing functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) data (both resting-state and task-related).
- Programming and/or computational data analysis skills, capable of using at least one of the following: Matlab, R, Python, etc.
- Preference for candidates with experience working in mental health institutions.
- Highly efficient and self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and the capacity to meet tight deadlines.
- A good team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
University Admission Requirements:
- A good language proficiency score: at least 7.0 in IELTS.
- An excellent GRE score: minimum 319 for the verbal and quantitative sections, 3.5 for the analytical section.

Scholarship Opportunity:
This Ph.D. position is funded full-time for a period of 4 years (tuition fees and stipends inclusive). Both Singaporean and international candidates are eligible to apply.

There is no bond attached to the scholarship.
The award is tenable for one (1) year in the first instance and is renewable subject to good progress. The maximum period of the Scholarship is two (2) years for Master’s candidates and four (4) years for PhD candidates, as determined by school as well as availability of research funding in each case.

¹ Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions shall be provided at a rate pegged to the prevailing employer’s contribution rate set by CPF, on top of the monthly stipend received.
² International Students must perform teaching/ laboratory supervision duties to fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Assistantship Programme (GAP). Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents may perform GAP at the discretion of the schools.
⁴ Social Science & Humanities (SSH) Disciplines
- For scholars who pass the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination/Confirmation, he/she may be eligible for an additional stipend of up to $500 per month. The increased in stipend is subjected to good performance in research and the attainment of required standards for courses taken. The University reserves the right to vary the amount of the stipend at any time by written notice.
- In addition to the monthly stipend, the award also covers the annual tuition fee.

Visiting students
Short-term Research (Visiting Research Student)
We welcome postgraduate students from overseas universities to undertake short-term research in our lab at NTU as a non-Graduating-non-exchange student for up to 12 months (minimum of 40 hours per week or 8 hours on a 5-day work week).
