The Kineodeon (from the Greek words “κίνηση” and “odeion”, which means “movement” and “theatre”) is an experience system that amalgamates the interactive cinema and play-scape. Kineodeon is designed with an intention to offer a new experience as a solution to encourage a less sedentary entertainment viewing, in contrast with the mainstream cinemas.Commercialized TV programs and traditional ways of enjoying on-screen entertainment has given people the option of longer viewing hours and thus long hours of sitting without physical activity. According to the Norwegian School of Sports Sciences, long hours of sedentariness risks many negative health effects. The guideline by CDC Health advises people to take 250 steps for each hour, apart from the weekly minimum exercise hours, to eliminate the risks. Aimed to influence a slight behavioral change to watch TV programs in a less sedentary way, Kineodeon is not about solving the problems of long hours of sedentariness, but to offer an interesting and contestable choice of experience which fulfills the bare minimum to eliminate the risks and to help make the healthier option an easier option.
