Early Life

Jacques Cousteau was born on 11th June, 1910, in St.-André-de-Cubzac, France. As a young boy, he travelled around the world due to his father’s occupation, and moved between France and America often.

The young Cousteau did not have many friends, and mostly retreated to his bedroom workshop, building models and indulging in his passion for the mechanics. Despite being sent to Le Collége Stanislas de Paris, a boarding school known for its strict discipline, Cousteau excelled and upon graduation, joined the French Navy in hopes of becoming a successful aviator.
