Meat Consumption in America

The United States of America is a prime example of a nation who enjoys protein consumption in great excess. Today, the use of meat in the daily diet is at a record high, with total meat consumption in 2000 reaching 88kg per person, a large 26kg increase when comparing to annual per person consumption in the 1950s (Profiling Food Consumption in America, 2000).
