Responsibility is one few people would take ownership for in this “fine” city of Singapore. People feel personally threatened, the dissonance of the commons dilemma and so entirely avoid behavioral change that affect comfort. In addition, most responsibility is placed on the government when we, the individuals, have an equal stake.

Change in consumption behavior will only happen under the influence relevant environmental knowledge, values and attitudes adaptation. In which case, social empowerment can be done through education.

As individuals, what we can do to facilitate other stakeholders (i.e. Legislation, Non-government organizations (NGOs) and other individuals) is to be empowered for change. Support a movement, volunteer for groups that exist in Singapore (see What has been done); assert political pressure to urge for change, boycott companies practicing environmentally unfriendly practices and practice what you preach setting modal exemplars for friends and family to follow.
