Animal Shows

The Zoo showcases a variety of animal shows which serve their entertainment and educational purposes. Through these shows, the zoo is able to educate the public of the different abilities of the animals and also informs the public about some environmental problems that the wildlife is struggling with.

An example will be the “Rainforest Fights Back” show is housed in the Shaw Amphitheatre, the main Amphitheatre within the zoo. In this show, it illustrate an evil poacher who wants to mow down a section of the tropical rainforest for land development. It also shows how the native people and the animals of the rainforest, including orangutans, lemurs, pea-fowls, otters, and cockatiels, try to show him from doing so. This performance clearly demonstrates a realistic environmental problem – deforestation – which is affecting the survival of the flora and fauna living in these forests.

The “Splash Safari” show involves the zoo’s aquatic mammals and birds. Through this show, seals and sea lions showcase their capabilities by performing tricks such as balancing a ball on their noses to show their sense of balance.
