Mini Fiction, also known as Mini Novels, is a genre of fiction which is shorter in length than the Short Story yet still elaborate in its writing. Mini Fiction requires the writer to use the least number of words to express his or her ideas and beliefs. The beauty of Mini Fiction lies in the fact that it aims to convince a reader to accept the story put forward by the writer within a few minutes. At the same time, the writer should also strive to enlighten and move the reader even within such a short frame of time.
Writers of Mini Fiction should endeavour to write between the length of 100 words to 2,000 words.
Firstly, the instructor will explain overarching concept for the lesson and provide some examples on the concept.
The lessons will be carried out in a discussion format where the participants will also have the opportunity to write a mini fiction in their groups based on the topic prescribed by instructor.
Thereafter, the instructor will also provide critiques based on the groups’ works and hold a “Questions & Answers” session if time permits.
*This workshop will be conducted in the Mandarin Chinese language.*
