What I most appreciated about the class was the honesty that Akhil invited from all of us; it was an honesty that didn’t need literary flourish to be received and to transform. The questions he asked us of each of our stories were centred around whether something was “believable”, not in a logical sense, but in a felt sense, as in how do humans believably and imperfectly react to things happening in their life; and the exercises he introduced us to helped us continue to grow that sense within ourselves.
