Overview
Designed for English language readers and writers interested in Tamil Short Stories & Science Fiction, this course of seminars will provide an opportunity for writers to explore the basics of Tamil Short Stories & Science Fiction in a friendly, encouraging environment.
Please come prepared to fully participate in discussions—and to learn about Tamil Short Stories & Science Fiction.
Learning Outcomes
- deepen their understanding and knowledge of Tamil Short Stories & Science Fiction, their themes, contexts, literary forms, traditions and conventions
- meet other writers and readers interested in Tamil Short Stories & Science Fiction
Who should register?
- Foundation Writers — Early stage, promising writers with no requirement for any publication history. Foundation writers are those who are writing for the first time or have never written with deadlines or structure before.
- Intermediate Writers — Writers who have chosen to pursue writing as a full time or part time career with a serious, professional intent but who are not yet published with a mainstream or recognised independent publisher
- Advanced Writers — Writers who have published at least one book with a mainstream or recognised independent publisher, and/or published in at least one literary journal and/or anthology
This course will be conducted in the English language.
Participants will be selected by the Visiting Writer with assistance from the Asia Creative Writing Programme. A waiting list will be maintained.

About Suneel Krishnan
Dr Suneel Krishnan is an esteemed writer, translator, critic, essayist and editor of Tamil language fiction who has presented at workshops and festivals in India, Malaysia and Singapore. He has written short stories and novels including Ambu Padukkai (2018), Vishakkinaru (2020) and Neelakantam (2020). Among the awards and recognition he has received include the 2018 Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar award for his short story collection ‘Ambu Padukkai’, the 2018 Kanaiyazhi Ezhuthu Kuru novel competition ‘Asokamithran’ prize for his novella ‘Pesum Poonai’, the Ka Na Su short story award for ‘Eppodhum Mudivele Inbam’ in 2020 and the “அறச்செம்மல்” award given by Erode Aram Arakatalai.
