What defines imaginative writing and “creative nonfiction”? Join ACWP Visiting Writer J.C. Hallman as he examines one of the most inscrutable pieces of writing ever produced—James Agee’s six-page-long “Knoxville:nSummer, 1915”—to reflect on the too-often-overlooked foundations of the techniques, strategy, and purpose of literature.

The programme is suitable for readers and writers of all levels, and is co-presented with the Singapore Book Council.

J.C. Hallman is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and the Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins. He is the author of seven books from Henry Holt, Simon & Schuster, Random House and others, and has published work in GQ, Harper’s, The New Republic, The Nation, and many other publications. He is the recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim and McKnight foundations, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

J.C. Hallman will be an ACWP Visiting Writer from August 2024 to December 2024.
